Coaching benefits

Clients benefit from coaching because they acquire:
  • greater self-knowledge, self-acceptance and confidence
  • an awareness of personal values that make life-changing decisions easier
  • the ability to say "Yes" when they mean yes and "No" when they mean no
  • the ambition to go for promotion and advancement at work
  • courage to make the most of opportunities and take risks
  • a set of personal goals to attain well-formed outcomes
Every waking moment we are thinking and talking to self or to others. What we do in life is driven by our management of that process. If I think of myself as a loser, I will go out to prove I am correct. I may not know I am doing it, but I am! Confidence comes from having greater awareness of the part we are playing in life. The way we think, act, and respond to both our own thoughts and to events around us is what makes us happy or miserable. We may be brilliant at what we do, the envy of others, but have doubts and concerns about our own performance in certain areas of life.

A coach will help you discern the behaviour causing the problem and and use coaching techniques such as transactional analysis, neurolinguistic programming (NLP) or assertiveness skills so you respond differently next time.

I may spend time reminding myself of past mistakes, playing old tapes over and over in my head instead of living in the present moment. Or I may be dreaming of winning the lottery, meeting Mr/Mrs Right, living in the Caribbean and telling myself that when that happens everything will be fine.

It sounds good, but if I am to achieve it, I need to be doing something right now to ensure that outcome!

Each one of us has unique talents and our take on life is unique also. What matters to me and what I value is really known to nobody but me. The same applies to you and everyone else.

Harnessing that uniqueness and individuality is what good life-coaching provides. When we access that, we will have intrinsic motivation. Then everything is easy and a joy. The struggle is over and problems that arise are seen as a challenge that we are keen to take on. Success and happiness follow. The dreams are less important and the past is put in perspective.

Recognizing or re-discovering one's true nature, as happens in life-coaching, awakens us to the experience of who we are and removes negative self-consciousness. We can then be ourselves and relax into the natural style that suits us. Gaining accurate insight into our shortcomings, and finding a better way to manage them, gives us greater self-acceptance and self-confidence. Acknowledging what we do well, and how we manage our shortcomings, is an encouraging process. Being grateful for the gifts and talents we have is a positive experience that adds to our sense of wellbeing and happiness.

Tired of trying and getting nowhere? Dread being the centre of attention? Are you putting it off or making it happen? As you read this, is your mind coming up with reasons why it wouldn't work for you? I know as I have been there!

Coaching is a proactive and liberating experience that changes one's outlook. "As a result of strategies learned in coaching, I feel more grounded in myself and ready to move forward with my life." This comment by a client sums up the coaching experience.

Are you ready to start on the next chapter of your life? If so, I think I can help and I would count it a privilege to do so.
